Kiev authorities are determined to turn the Summer Children’s Olympics into a tradition. The plans were reported to the media by Alexander Popov, the head of Kiev City Administration.
This year the Olympics in Kiev were held for the first time. The participants were mainly schoolchildren who spent their vacations at school summer camps. The first sport competition turned out to be a success, which is why it is now planned to make the Olympics an annual event. Popov said that Kiev officials are trying their best to make summer vacations active and entertaining. Kiev teachers were entrusted with developing special vacation programs that had to include outdoor games and sports.
2013 became the opening year for the Children’s Olympics. 10 teams from Kiev school camps took part in the event and competed in volleyball, women's soccer and beach soccer.
